A Kansas City-based fiber broadband solutions company will move to new offices near Crown Center in a Class A building already seeing leasing momentum.
Conexon will move to a 48,827-square-foot headquarters in the 2323 Grand building from its current offices about two blocks north, in the Firestone Building at 2001 Grand Blvd. in the Crossroads Arts District. The broadband network design, construction and operations firm specializes in rural fiber projects. During the past decade, it has worked with electric co-ops in 80 markets and designed more than 200,000 miles of fiber nationwide. Conexon established its headquarters in Kansas City in 2019.
The company will occupy the entire fourth floor and part of the third floor in the 11-story 2323 Grand building, with a lease commencing in March. Its headquarters deal becomes the largest known new office lease signed in Kansas City, Missouri, this year to date, narrowly surpassing another lease announced at 2323 Grand in May — by Lathrop GPM LLP for 47,170 square feet on the seventh and eighth floors.
Stanton Road Capital of El Segundo, California, owns 2323 Grand. It bought the 320,976-square-foot office building in late 2017. The private investment management and advisory firm said it has executed 110,414 square feet in office
transactions so far this year — counting the new leases by Conexon and Lathrop GPM, plus renewals by advisory firm Glass Lewis & Co. and law firm Brown & Ruprecht PC. Grand Coffee Co. also has opened a spot in the building.
In a release, Stanton Road Capital attributed 2323 Grand’s leasing activity to its investment in amenities, including a 135-seat conference center, updated gym, employee lounge, and dining and patio areas. The offices also enjoy access to Crown Center’s retail and entertainment offerings and sit east across Grand from Washington Square Park, potentially the landing spot for a new ballpark if the Kansas City Royals move to Downtown.
“We are pleased to welcome another significant tenant to 2323 Grand and look forward to the long-term partnership with Conexon,” Tim Ronan Jr., Stanton Road Capital’s founder and managing partner, said in the release.
Travis Helgeson and Miles McCune of Range Realty Partners represented Stanton Road Capital. Anné Erickson of JLL represented Conexon.
Conexon has been a fixture on the Kansas City Business Journal’s Fast 50 List of the area’s fastest-growing companies, appearing each of the past seven years.
The company reported revenue of $284.62 million last year, for average annual revenue growth of 28.3% from 2022 to 2024, and last year had 190 local fulltime employees.
